We get this question a lot. Why “Turph”?
Well, turf is urban slang for ‘my part of the neighbourhood’ usually obtained after fierce competition (ie. ‘turf war’, ‘growing your turf’, ‘home turf’). Turf is also a fuel obtained from the marshes and bogs in the vicinity of Gouda, the birthplace of the platform. We chose to write the ‘f’ as a ‘ph’, and with that we borrow some of the intellectual prestige of all things latin and greek (philosophy, transmorph, etc).
All that combined makes Turph: Burn to the finish line.
